Description
John Constable (1776–1837) was an English Romantic painter renowned for his breathtaking landscape paintings, particularly of the English countryside. Born in Suffolk, he developed a deep connection to nature, often depicting scenes of the Stour Valley, as seen in The Hay Wain and Dedham Vale. Constable’s work emphasized natural light, movement, and atmospheric effects, influencing future landscape artists. Though underappreciated in England during his lifetime, he gained recognition in France, inspiring the Barbizon School. His expressive brushwork and devotion to capturing the beauty of rural life cemented his legacy as one of Britain’s most celebrated landscape painters.

Thank you for offering this image for sale. I just ordered a print. I usually collect similar images by the 19th-c. New England painters but this will be the first of a British one. You can't beat Constable's clouds.
John Constable replied:
Thanks Nancy, I just finished adding the rest of the collection so you might want to check back and see the rest. He did seem to have an obsession with clouds! Best Tony
