Georgia is a state located in the southeastern region of the United States. It was founded in 1732 by James Oglethorpe as a colony for debtors and as a buffer between the British colonies and the Spanish in Florida. Georgia played a key role in the American Revolution and was one of the original 13 colonies that declared independence from Britain in 1776.
