Suzanne Valadon (1865-1938) was a trailblazing French artist who defied societal norms to become a prominent figure in the world of late 19th and early 20th-century art. Born as Marie-Clémentine Valadon in Bessines-sur-Gartempe, France, she overcame a challenging upbringing to become one of the few female artists of her time to achieve recognition and success.
